We are happy to announce the publication of our article on an “Axes-aligned non-linear optimized PnP algorithm” by Peter Roch, Bijan Shahbaz Nejad, Marcus Handte and, Pedro José Marrón in the Journal on Machine Vision and Applications by Springer Nature. This extended version of our ISVC 2023 conference contribution provides a more thorough evaluation and discusses another relevant application scenario of the algorithm. Probably the most interesting result is that, even though the algorithm is simple, it outperforms many more complicated algorithms in cases where only a small number of point correspondences is available.
